If you use your PC much, it’s worth taking a minute to set the brightness of the screen right. I’m guilty of not getting round to it – but the other day I was using a different laptop right next to my normal PC. I noticed just how uncomfortably bright my normal PC screen was.
A few button presses later and it was much more comfortable on my eyes – especially when I use it for a long time.
If you have a laptop, you usually have a button marked Fn, down on the bottom left, near the Ctrl and Alt keys. You’ll also have some keys with symbols like a sun with rays around it (often in a different colour from the normal keys). If you hold down the Fn key and tap the “suns rays” keys, that’ll adjust the brightness.
On a desktop PC, you use the buttons on the monitor. Usually you press a menu button, then use the + and – keys to choose brightness and adjust it – but, as you might guess, it varies a little depending on the make so you might need to experiment!
It’s worth checking, though – if the brightness is set wrong for you (or wrong for how well lit the room you use it in is) it can make it much less comfortable to use.
