Hello,
In this episode of ICTV, we take a dive into the technology known as Augmented Reality or AR for short. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically where you use a device such as your smartphone and piece of AR software will use the device’s camera to superimpose images or videos of things on the screen, that are interactive.
The AR topics we cover are:
- Interactive globe (The one from Tims newsletter)
- Google Translate
- Pokemon GO
Having problems playing it? Watch it on YouTube here
If you have any questions, just drop us a comment and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can,
Thanks
Tim, Jess and Mike

I bought a Doro mobile from Vodaphone some time ago, then switched after a year to Virgin, keeping the same number. Just recently I have started getting texts as soon as I open the phone, or spometimes pinging before I open it. Message reads: Invalid certificate error: A certificate has expired.
HUH? What certificate? There’s no ‘from’ address. Pressing ‘options’ I get a choice of ‘install’ ‘continue’ or ‘cancel’ . Choosing the first option I get a window marked LABEL, but have no idea where I go from there. Any ideas? Neithewr Vodaphone nor Virgin know what it’s all about!

Hi Will,
If you are logging into your Hotmail using the outlook webmail do this:
Click the email you wish to block so it opens it up, a new bar should be across the top with a few options.
Click on the spam option and a drop down will appear.
Click on block
That contact should now be blocked
Thanks,
Mike.

Hi William,
just to double check, I know you said you are using Hotmail, but what app are you using to access the emails as each is a little different. e.g of this, mail app on iPhones, outlook app on phones, Hotmail website.
Thanks,
Mike.

Hi William,
Id this a pop up message as it sounds like this may be a virus or a scam. if you can access the play store can you download a free security app by someone like Kaspersky and scan your device to see if it discovers any threats.
Thanks,
Mike

I have got LinkedIn on my iPhone and my computer. Despite trying to unsubscribe 6 times they keep arriving in my mail, any suggestions
May 20, 2019 at 9:31 am
Hi Will,
Have you clicked the unsubscribe link in the emails you are receiving from linkedin?
If you’ve already done that you can add linekdin to your spam list or blocked contacts, however you will not receive their emails again, if you want to do that, let me know what email service you are using like, Hotmail, outlook Gmail, etc
Thanks,
Mike.

Thanks but what I want to know is which of the many ‘google translator’ options in the play store coming up on my smart phone (I have just acquired one for the first time in my life, 85 years), do I download? is it just google app, OR/AND camera translator free? Your demonstration is too small and too fast for me to follow/understand fully.
May 13, 2019 at 12:15 pm
Hi Margret,
Camera translator is part of the google translate app.
To download it type Google Translate into the app store it should appear as the first app on the store but if not, the logo for it should be a G on a blue background, with a Chinese letter behind it on a grey background
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Mike.

print to small to read how do I enlarge.
May 13, 2019 at 12:06 pm
Hi Doreen,
I think this is for your iPad, so this is how to enlarge text on an iPad.
Launch the Settings app from the Home screen of your iPad.
Tap on General.
Scroll down and now tap on Accessibility.
Now tap on the Large Text option.
Here you have several options to make text larger throughout iOS. Tap on the one you’d like.
Hope this helped.
Thanks,
Mike.

What is the name of the app for translation? I do a lot of translation English to Brazilian Portuguese or visa versa. Would this app cope with chunks of translation, or will I need to use Google for this?
Great idea though! Thanks
May 13, 2019 at 9:38 am
Hi Margret,
It was the Google Translate app that Jess used.
Thanks,
Mike.
