We all type every day, to write emails, to use Social Media, to fill in passwords…
But how many of us actually know how to type well?
I can’t type well, that’s for sure.
Just typing this I have only used 5 of my fingers and a thumb (for the space bar). I saw a friend doing an online typing course, and thought I would give it a go! It shows you where to place your hand on the keyboard and which fingers to use for each key…
The website I tried is a little slow to get going and starts with just a few letters on the keyboard, but after a while it progresses up to full words and sentences. All the time showing you which fingers to use and how fast and accurately you are typing.
For people who like competition you also get awards!
Fancy speeding up your typing? Making it more accurate? Why not try the online typing course? Give it a try here:
Happy Typing

Hi Keith.
It looks like you might be using webmail from TalkTalk (email in the web browser) at https://www.talktalk.co.uk/mail/ ?
You can setup a signature on TalkTalk webmail by following the instructions here
https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Product-Archive/Signature-at-bottom-of-outgoing-mail/m-p/1094724#M844944
“If you are using the talktalk.net email then click on your inbox, on the right hand side above the upper blue bar click on Change your settings. You will then see on the left hand side a list of options, click on the Mail one under Settings. Scroll down the page and you will see a box to add a Signature. I have not used this option myself but give it a go.”
Let me know if this isn’t quite right for you (I can’t test it sorry)
Many thanks

Hello Mike, I’m trying again to print a greetings card. The folded card in the printer will not stay in place. So I’ve tried without success to print the design on one half of the card before folding. The design is in Microsoft word where I’ve tried without any luck so far. Can you help? Robert

Hi Robert
I would probably not try to put folded card through the printer as this might just be too thick for it to take.
What happened when you try to print on the whole page?
Thank you
Mike

Hello Mike,
The picture gets printed across the fold when it should be below the fold. In other words, on the front page of the card when folded.
With regards,
Robert

Hi Robert
It sounds like you might be using a different sized template on your word document.
Try starting a new word document and make sure the page size is set to A4 (which I am assuming is the size of the card you are printing on before folding). Then position the image only in the top half of the screen and print it.
Top Tips for Printing
You can do some test prints in black and white to save ink. You can also do the test prints just on plain paper also saving money, then when you have the image in the right position.
If you card is not A4 then let me know and we can have another think. Let me know how you get on
Thanks

Hello Mike,
Thanks for your quick response. The unfolded paper size is A5 , so the picture size
would be A6?

Robert

Ahhhhh OK I See…. I think this is all to do with the page settings in your Word program. AND on the printer setup part.
Annoyingly I don’t have a printer at home to test out the settings needed sorry. I can look on Tuesday when I am back in the office, but I think these links might help you until then
Create A5 page in Word http://ccm.net/faq/27057-word-create-an-a5-page and http://www.photopaperdirect.com/blog/?p=891
I will make a note to look at on work next week about how best to do this and come up with some instructions. Sorry I don’t have an answer right away
Thanks
Mike :/

I am a trained typist but this site really makes you concentrate. Excellent for a beginner and onwards.

Hello Moira
Ahhh thanks for the feedback, glad to know websites we link to are of use. I found this site really helpful as it shows you where to place your handsa on the keyboard, which I am not very good at, and I make lots of mistakes which I have to go back and correct, like here where I typed dnot instead of not.
